Search Continues for Missing Nancy Guthrie

Tucson, Arizona — Authorities are urgently searching for Nancy Guthrie, an 84-year-old woman reported missing on 1 February 2026 from her home in the Catalina Foothills, near Tucson.

Mrs Guthrie, the mother of NBC “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie, was last seen by family on the evening of 31 January after a dinner at a relative’s home. When she failed to attend church the next morning, her family checked on her and discovered she was gone.

Investigators believe she was taken against her will. Evidence at the scene pointed to foul play, including blood at her front door that was later confirmed to be hers, and disconnected electronic devices like a doorbell camera and her pacemaker monitor.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos described her home as a crime scene and said there was no indication Nancy left voluntarily. Due to her limited mobility and serious medical needs, authorities consider her especially vulnerable.

The FBI is assisting with the investigation, and a $50,000 reward has been offered for information leading to her safe return or the arrest of those responsible.

Savannah Guthrie and her siblings have made heartfelt public appeals, including video messages pleading with anyone involved to provide proof that she is alive. In the most recent appeal, Savannah acknowledged that her family had received a message they believe may be connected to the case and reiterated their desperation for her mother’s safe return.

At this stage, no suspects have been publicly identified and the investigation remains active. Both local and federal law enforcement continue to pursue leads as they work to find Nancy Guthrie.
