Seahawks Safety Nick Emmanwori Leaves Practice with Ankle Injury Ahead of Super Bowl LX

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Seattle Seahawks safety Nick Emmanwori suffered an ankle injury during Wednesday’s practice as the team continues preparations for Super Bowl LX against the New England Patriots.

Emmanwori, a second-round pick and standout rookie, was limited in practice after hurting his ankle while defending a pass late in the session at San Jose State University. He walked off the field under his own power, but several teammates and coaches checked on him before he left.

Head coach Mike Macdonald described the situation simply: “He had an ankle today ... we brought him in to look at it, and we’ll kind of go from here and figure out what are the next steps.”

Seattle listed Emmanwori as a limited participant on Wednesday’s injury report — a precautionary designation following the late-practice incident.

The injury comes at a critical time for the Seahawks’ defense. Emmanwori, who posted 81 tackles, 2.5 sacks, an interception and 11 passes defended during the regular season, has been a key contributor throughout his rookie campaign.

Seattle returns to the practice field later this week, and the team is expected to monitor Emmanwori’s status closely as game day approaches.
