Warriors Midfielder Daniel Msendami Completes Move to Orlando Pirates
Harare — Zimbabwean international midfielder Daniel Msendami has officially joined Orlando Pirates, one of South Africa’s biggest football clubs, the club announced on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old midfielder completed his transfer from Marumo Gallants in the South African Betway Premiership, signing for the Soweto giants alongside his former Gallants teammate Mpho Chabastane. The transfer details remain undisclosed.
Msendami’s rise in the South African top flight is closely tied to his impressive performances for both club and country. His displays for Zimbabwe’s Warriors, particularly during the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, saw him emerge as one of the most sought-after midfielders in the league, attracting interest from several major clubs, including Kaizer Chiefs before Pirates secured his signature.
The Bulawayo-born midfielder first arrived in South African football when he joined Marumo Gallants in July 2024 from Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy, where he enjoyed a highly successful spell — winning domestic league titles and being honoured as Player of the Tournament in the Botswana FA Cup.
At Pirates, Msendami becomes part of a proud tradition of Zimbabwean players to pull on the black and white jersey, joining notable Zimbabwean alumni such as Marshall Munetsi, Kuda Mahachi and the late Tendai Ndoro among others.
For Orlando Pirates, the acquisition strengthens their midfield options as they continue to compete on multiple fronts domestically and in continental competitions. For Msendami, the move represents a major step forward in his career, offering a platform to test himself at the highest level in South African football and to push for silverware.
Supporters will now look forward to Msendami’s debut in the black and white stripes as the DStv Premiership season resumes — and many will expect the dynamic midfielder to make an immediate impact for the Buccaneers.
