Sjava Lights Up the Music Scene with “INkanyezi NeZinkanyezi”

South African music icon Sjava has just released his highly anticipated album INkanyezi NeZinkanyezi (“A Star Amongst the Stars”), dropping on 30 January 2026. This project marks the final chapter of his ambitious Inkanyezi trilogy, following the live EPs Inkanyezi and Inkanyezi 2.0, which he rolled out throughout 2025 by performing new material live before studio versions were released.

Unlike traditional rollouts, Sjava engaged his audience in an intimate, creative process—teaching fans the songs through performances first, then unveiling them in polished studio form. The title reflects his vision of community and shared brilliance, suggesting that his music, like stars in the sky, shines brightest when viewed as part of a collective constellation rather than in isolation.
Sonically, INkanyezi NeZinkanyezi blends maskandi roots, Afro-pop warmth, gospel uplift, trap energy, and more, showcasing Sjava’s versatility and deep musical storytelling. Highlights include collaborations with artists such as Msaki & Zadok, Jesse Clegg, Nkosazana Daughter, Lowfeye & LaCabra, Gusba, J John & Ronaldo, and Zamoh & Mafakhiza. Through shifting styles—from soulful introspection to celebratory rhythms—the album explores love, spirituality, identity, and community, anchored by Sjava’s distinctive vocal presence.

For the album’s launch, Sjava treated listeners to an immersive planetarium experience in Johannesburg, where visuals of the cosmos accompanied the debut playthrough—a fitting tribute to the celestial theme of the project. 

As he celebrates over a decade in the industry, this release not only completes a significant artistic journey but also reinforces Sjava’s reputation as one of South Africa’s most innovative and heartfelt musical storytellers.

Kianna Underwood, a former child actress known for her work on Nickelodeon’s sketch comedy series All That and the animated show Little Bill, has died at age 33 after being struck in a hit-and-run accident in Brooklyn, New York.
