Sheldon Tatchell: The Visionary Behind Legends Barber

Sheldon Tatchell is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Legends Barber, one of South Africa’s most successful men’s grooming brands. What began as a humble barbering service in Eldorado Park — where Tatchell started cutting hair as a teenager — has grown into a thriving franchise with over 70 stores across multiple African countries, including South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho and Zambia. 

Tatchell’s journey into entrepreneurship wasn’t traditional. After years working in a corporate role, he followed his passion for barbering and launched his first shop in 2012. Despite early setbacks, including an initial shop closure, Tatchell’s persistence paid off. He built Legends Barber into a lifestyle brand known for quality grooming services, a strong customer experience and a range of products now sold in major retail chains nationwide. 

Under his leadership, Legends Barber has not only expanded geographically but also diversified. The company operates a training academy to upskill aspiring barbers and has introduced professional grooming products like FXDE clippers.

Tatchell’s achievements have earned him significant recognition. In 2024 he won the prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year® award in South Africa, a testament to his tenacity, creativity and impact on both the grooming industry and the broader entrepreneurial landscape.

Kianna Underwood, Former Nickelodeon Star, Killed in Brooklyn Hit-and-Run

Kianna Underwood, a former child actress known for her work on Nickelodeon’s sketch comedy series All That and the animated show Little Bill, has died at age 33 after being struck in a hit-and-run accident in Brooklyn, New York. The tragic incident occurred early Friday morning, January 16, in the Brownsville neighborhood when a sedan hit Underwood as she tried to cross Pitkin Avenue near Mother Gaston Boulevard.
