Sabalenka Powers Into Australian Open Final

World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka continued her impressive run at the 2026 Australian Open, dominating Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina 6-2, 6-3 in the women’s semifinal to reach her fourth consecutive final at Melbourne Park. 

Sabalenka’s powerful groundstrokes and aggressive play kept Svitolina on the back foot throughout, as the top seed quickly took control and never looked back. The win brings Sabalenka closer to her third Australian Open title, adding to her growing legacy at this Grand Slam. 

Svitolina, competing here after a strong season and a career-best run past top players like Coco Gauff, fought hard but couldn’t counter Sabalenka’s relentless pressure.

In the final, Sabalenka will face either Jessica Pegula or Elena Rybakina, with both players set to contest the second semifinal. 

Sabalenka’s consistency at the Australian Open underscores her status as one of the premier forces in the women’s game, blending power with evolving tactical maturity on the biggest stages.

Kianna Underwood, a former child actress known for her work on Nickelodeon’s sketch comedy series All That and the animated show Little Bill, has died at age 33 after being struck in a hit-and-run accident in Brooklyn, New York. The tragic incident occurred early Friday morning, January 16, in the Brownsville neighborhood when a sedan hit Underwood as she tried to cross Pitkin Avenue near Mother Gaston Boulevard.
