Manchester City Hit Double Figures in Ruthless FA Cup Win

Manchester City produced a statement performance in the FA Cup Third Round, cruising to a 10–1 victory over League One side Exeter City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

On a day when lower-league hopes of an FA Cup “giant-killing” were dashed early, Pep Guardiola’s side were relentless from the first whistle in Manchester, scoring double figures for just the *second time in the club’s history and the first since November 1987.

A Chaotic, High-Scoring Affair

City raced out of the traps, with Max Alleyne opening the scoring in the 12th minute, slotting home from close range after good work on the left.

Midfielder Rodri followed with a thunderous strike from distance to double the lead, his first goal in over a year.
Exeter’s day went from bad to worse before half-time, conceding two own goals as pressure mounted — first from Jake Doyle-Hayes and then Jack Fitzwater turning crosses into their own net.

The second half saw City continue to dominate, with goals coming from across the squad:
Rico Lewis struck twice, including late on to seal the double-digit tally.
Antoine Semenyo, a new January signing, scored on his debut with a composed finish.

Tijjani Reijnders, Nico O’Reilly and Academy winger Ryan McAidoo also weighed in, McAidoo scoring his first senior goal.

The League One visitors finally got a moment to celebrate in the 90th minute when George Birch produced a stunning consolation strike.

What It Means for City
The emphatic win sees City safely into the FA Cup Fourth Round, where they’ll await opponents in Monday’s draw.

For Guardiola’s side, it was a confidence-boosting day after a mixed run of results in the Premier League, and a chance for some fringe and young players to impress in a competitive fixture.

Exeter’s Tour to Manchester
Exeter arrived with a passionate travelling support and dreams of a cup upset — but were simply outgunned on the day. Ahead of the game the club had appealed for additional FA Cup revenue share due to financial challenges, a request which was ultimately blocked by Manchester City, who adhered to standard FA Cup revenue rules.

While the result was disappointing for the League One side, their journey to the Third Round and the experience gained will be valuable as they return to league action.
